<br />
Last week, I had the pleasure to teach art journaling using some of Anna's (Finnabair) techniques. The participants in the class asked me to post my journal pages on my blog so they can put the final touch to theirs. So here they are...<br />
<br />
Technique using tea (Anna's):<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYmm7ihA3LapWBQFdvVZvzRbnBy9jKC6kIUOcfxZ9Drkm1c4bsp-VstEoknmsUCKo7RH2gf90pnlzKakRj7oDNgQynlQB0cuxREVP1eTsFRdmWMhENPCJ5cmcJW-yKUUQAuVlAWCyz2ek/s640/blogger-image-1247546208.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYmm7ihA3LapWBQFdvVZvzRbnBy9jKC6kIUOcfxZ9Drkm1c4bsp-VstEoknmsUCKo7RH2gf90pnlzKakRj7oDNgQynlQB0cuxREVP1eTsFRdmWMhENPCJ5cmcJW-yKUUQAuVlAWCyz2ek/s640/blogger-image-1247546208.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Created by Nathalie Noreau-McLeod - The Creative Cellar</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
This is the page I made during the class, using the same technique:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgSU9yaMYDDYXXKckDNN0vhYJLoKmbuP19mMsXlB_b31bfsMlgp_0Jrzlj_xWPaxAsqBqRyDQ9QEJn2bkX8RsNfUfDCN3WWd6c5YN_i0vs0JVBvMH_q2VT3GCE8QTIG9XiOOWpTkLqlSk/s640/blogger-image-470914856.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgSU9yaMYDDYXXKckDNN0vhYJLoKmbuP19mMsXlB_b31bfsMlgp_0Jrzlj_xWPaxAsqBqRyDQ9QEJn2bkX8RsNfUfDCN3WWd6c5YN_i0vs0JVBvMH_q2VT3GCE8QTIG9XiOOWpTkLqlSk/s640/blogger-image-470914856.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Created by Nathalie Noreau-McLeod - The Creative Cellar</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Technique using stains (Anna's)<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8mqfE3_3Ey9Zxtdh-y7uaq6dKbRwPn5a2XNy5OElBqGbHYvoocaprR_vI735rUqEWdiFnZq9NaBUXLdTljZg685JFU3alhDyQJ6K64sCk5ojfjVKS5s46ZV3gGFd7548DX1s2HAIUXdU/s640/blogger-image--1624208898.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8mqfE3_3Ey9Zxtdh-y7uaq6dKbRwPn5a2XNy5OElBqGbHYvoocaprR_vI735rUqEWdiFnZq9NaBUXLdTljZg685JFU3alhDyQJ6K64sCk5ojfjVKS5s46ZV3gGFd7548DX1s2HAIUXdU/s640/blogger-image--1624208898.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Created by Nathalie Noreau-McLeod - The Creative Cellar</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
Again, this is the page I made during the class, using the stain technique:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijIKAspusX1pYidMlvhaenPF1ShCWnvgcHsWEXwYiwDZF1Qn2tOoeqPFvcLulpOUTsY6DTDbiNrDNCCl582SBLm20tI6laJ9subfeU3imWu4ver5L44-8d9n0B2BzHomHMk5EWu7MANCo/s640/blogger-image--860887455.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijIKAspusX1pYidMlvhaenPF1ShCWnvgcHsWEXwYiwDZF1Qn2tOoeqPFvcLulpOUTsY6DTDbiNrDNCCl582SBLm20tI6laJ9subfeU3imWu4ver5L44-8d9n0B2BzHomHMk5EWu7MANCo/s640/blogger-image--860887455.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Created by Nathalie Noreau-McLeod - The Creative Cellar</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
And finally, the techniques I teached using modeling page, gesso and inks.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

My daughter's birthday is April 28... this is now November, and I just got to scrap her best birthday picture for this year. Ok, I omitted to mention that I have 11 years of birthday pictures to scrap. But this one, this very one is just so beautiful and inspiring. Alyssa at 11 years old, going on 21, making a wish that nobody will ever know about. And this is just right that way; my daughter has her own secrets and I totally respect that. However, when I look at this picture, I know what my wish for her is. In this layout, I found important to share with her what my hopes are, so I wrote quite a lot of journaling. And when she read it, she gave me the longest hug she ever gave me. Alyssa knows me, and she knows that I will always wish the best for her, and agree with her own choices.<br />
<br />
I am my worst critic when it comes to judging my scrapbooking. This layout is one of my favorites, because of the muted colours, the 'old wallpaper' look, and a collection of my daughter's favourite colours gathered in the same pages.<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Created by Nathalie Noreau-McLeod - The Creative Cellar, 2012</td></tr>

<br />
This layout has some kind of 'atmosphere' like we say in French. It is soft but has character. Layering, gesso, distressing, staining, journaling. A nice mixed match of techniques that makes this layout speak for itself. And most importantly, my daughter loves it. This is really all that matters.<br />
<br />
Here are some close-ups.<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Created by Nathalie Noreau-McLeod - The Creative Cellar, 2012</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I like using delicate doilies that I crumple, stain, mist and either glue on my page or sneak in as little peek-a-boos in a folded corner. I find these accents very feminine and 'vintage' at the same time. I found some beautiful purple Prima flowers that I couldn't resist adding gesso on. It gives a softer look to a romantic layout.<br />

<br />
I have been a very bad, bad blogger in the last few weeks. For all of you following my blog, I appologize for being absent. Life got in the way big time. I am planning on resuming blogging very shortly, so please stay tuned!<br />
<br />
Thank you for your understanding,<br />

As many of you know, I had the privilege, along with over 60 other ladies, to take a class with an amazing artist, the great Anna Dabrowska (aka <a href="http://tworzysko.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Finnabair</a>). This event was organized by <a href="http://www.scrapenmasse.com/" target="_blank">Scrap en Masse</a> and was a huge success. Meeting such an inspiring artist was one of the best experience in my life!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I always wanted to try mix-media art. When I started painting a few year ago, I added Saran Wrap and Newspaper to my art so it would have more relief. But this was not satisfactory to me, I really wanted to add a third dimension to what I was doing. Taking Anna's class allowed me to try mediums that always intimidated me, which kept me from taking the leap. I had no technique or method to use the mediums, pastes, sealers, etc. During the class with Finnabair, we created the cover for an art journal, which I will show in a future post. This was a reveal for me; it opened the door to another world that I want to explore more and more.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So yesterday, I created a sign for my scraproom door, my Creative Cellar. </div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</tbody></table>
I applied a mix of pigments and glimmer mist to colour my canvas. The elements I used come from my own stash, but I also include an old key that my Dad had in his 'treasure box' (aka his mancave), a button that used to be on my hubby's military uniform, some dragonflies my friend Diane gave me, as well as lace and corrugated board. As a finishing touch, I applied the beautiful <a href="http://www.dreamingcolor.com/silks-acrylic-glaze.html" target="_blank">LuminArte Silk</a> glaze and covered the whole canvas with a gloss protective sealer. So I did what Finnabair teached us, but added my personal touch to the mix!<br />
<br />

Hey there! Here is my fifth post of my Evolution series. My intention is to get to six, so hang in there for those who don't like these posts! I'm almost done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This time, I decided to post the picture of the layout I made recently first, as opposed to the other posts I wrote on the same subject. So this time, the main challenge from the techniques class was to use the colour wheel to create our layout. The principle is simple: using the colour wheel, find the triad of colours that fit your pictures the best. The application of this principle: not so simple.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You must have concluded by looking at my layouts (see my gallery or older posts if you need), that I am rather a 'vintage/sophisticated/grunge' kind of scrapper. So to be imposed colours by a so called wheel is out of my element, to say the least! In both cases, i.e. in both times I attended that class where I was imposed colours, anxiety showed up in my chest and stayed there until I was done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have to admit, the result is not bad. Not my cup of tea, but not bad. So, here is the layout I made this summer during my <a href="http://www.scrapenmasse.com/cours_e.html" target="_blank">SEM Scrapbooking Techniques</a> class #2.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEissYiWcbOK08lgcFSqYd1V7d42QP11flAC0H3BVCe-FqmdZ7lg7H4D9ENpJfd3FOYKIPQMuCN_WdykB9m8bjpIqhgFCI4IVdssIK1Mf8tS3cBnbkDEUPaaf8v7VTtNVLzC03iHdcxxcNU/s1600/Mon+Jardin+Secret.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="322" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEissYiWcbOK08lgcFSqYd1V7d42QP11flAC0H3BVCe-FqmdZ7lg7H4D9ENpJfd3FOYKIPQMuCN_WdykB9m8bjpIqhgFCI4IVdssIK1Mf8tS3cBnbkDEUPaaf8v7VTtNVLzC03iHdcxxcNU/s640/Mon+Jardin+Secret.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mon Jardin Secret, completed July 16, 2012</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So the first time around, I also had to use the colour wheel for this class. I chose pictures of my daughter at 3 months old, when I visited my parents for a week. Of course, I didn't know that my dear Papa would pass away a few days after that class, when my pictures and paper was picked using the colour wheel. I have to admit, it took me quite a few months before I was able to even start this layout, but I did it, with a lot of pain and tears. I like this layout though, and it reminds me of how my Father was an amazing Grand-Father. He loved his grand-children like his own children. Ok, I am digressing here. So here is the layout I created in the summer of 2011.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjra0g1fyiSAUT7RZnn8eL4jwhbujnNdBj_S1v1KKz0Nv4muQ9NOtHPb4nHfrBQTD7Xd4z0nhIhkS4FhNV8NU9-sictb6_z8hl16lbRRb8SLgGlfMMYf2K2hNvEbCEVKbGNc2CSCKltavc/s1600/Amour.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjra0g1fyiSAUT7RZnn8eL4jwhbujnNdBj_S1v1KKz0Nv4muQ9NOtHPb4nHfrBQTD7Xd4z0nhIhkS4FhNV8NU9-sictb6_z8hl16lbRRb8SLgGlfMMYf2K2hNvEbCEVKbGNc2CSCKltavc/s640/Amour.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">De l'Amour plein les bras, completed in July 2011</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
This layout also gave me a hard time with the colours I had to work with, but I love it. It is now in my daughter's album.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTJsSdKQJ7_9KT-PmVFmrMtmYsNcehlCRaR3GgoganxlPT-IcVBQpNR5O6uLZrVQwufaK86wGhUCFK7IHylhzV67UZYXnizblfQJ5ohu8mfamWnn-WBKdbXkLhUTaqmSJgMPOibhK-Pf8/s1600/colour+wheel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTJsSdKQJ7_9KT-PmVFmrMtmYsNcehlCRaR3GgoganxlPT-IcVBQpNR5O6uLZrVQwufaK86wGhUCFK7IHylhzV67UZYXnizblfQJ5ohu8mfamWnn-WBKdbXkLhUTaqmSJgMPOibhK-Pf8/s640/colour+wheel.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And here is the guilty colour wheel. Kidding! This tool is amazing and can assist any artist, including scrapbookers or cardmakers, in choosing colour combinations that will always succeed. No wonder painters, interior designers, and other professionals make it their #1 tool. It just takes a little bit of time and help to know how to use it at first. <br />
<br />
And once you know, you're good to go!<br />
Happy colouring!<br />

It has been six long weeks since I wrote on my blog... life got busy, that's the least I can say! But here I am, full of energy and with a lot of new layouts and fun stuff to share with you. <br />
<br />
I am back from France where I spent two wonderful weeks visiting Paris and the Loire Vallée with my hubby. Of course, I took over 600 pictures, just to make sure I have enough scrapping material to keep me busy for the next 5 years!<br />
So, being back home also means being back to preparing classes for <a href="http://www.scrapenmasse.com/" target="_blank">Scrap en masse</a>, my favorite scrapbooking store! I started a series of posts on the theme of evolution where I presented layouts I did during the course <a href="http://www.scrapenmasse.com/cours_e.html" target="_blank">'Technique de Scrapbooking #1 / Scrapbooking Techniques #1'</a>, which by the way will be given in English this fall.<br />
<br />
Now I am presenting the layout I made for the second part of the course, 'Technique de Scrapbooking #2 / Scrapbooking Techniques #2' (same links as above). The first session of this series of 3 courses aim at combining stamping techniques along with creating a doilie and following specific guidelines in a layout. Here is the layout I created last year, when I first took the class:<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB-K9oRubGfSXa4WgSFW6MlfUqylOBqUFB23QnhvLUnh5t5uygGl4PLshoaI42r8EN_btgZKR_h1Kd8raEojQ_MakeOk9DywCK1rNbqQmnSqE5b6Vpb2Rn2Dq-WaOAnGm5PryMIdHeCxQ/s1600/butchard+garden.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB-K9oRubGfSXa4WgSFW6MlfUqylOBqUFB23QnhvLUnh5t5uygGl4PLshoaI42r8EN_btgZKR_h1Kd8raEojQ_MakeOk9DywCK1rNbqQmnSqE5b6Vpb2Rn2Dq-WaOAnGm5PryMIdHeCxQ/s640/butchard+garden.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Based on an original layout created by Josée Lalonde (SEM)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I have fond memories coming back at me when I see this layout, as it reminds me of the wonderful visit my family and I had in Victoria. We also visited Butchart Gardens, which is by far the most beautiful flower garden I've ever seen!<br />
<br />
Since I could not find a doilie that matched my photos, I created one by cutting a big circle and punching smaller circles that I crumpled with my fingers and then sanded.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT3oGeXm2Z8g5-nl1AFIWkOyK8UU9ThLVrG9vTnLorXN1d9IQxi3B6YC8xbKB6s__JoDmxkMvOQ1-P9VVeUN7QzVVMVESCTsJrAIOjU1IQgRuf-z1o_BdpNZTnXQ4V2R606oEA_wP7zwI/s1600/doilie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT3oGeXm2Z8g5-nl1AFIWkOyK8UU9ThLVrG9vTnLorXN1d9IQxi3B6YC8xbKB6s__JoDmxkMvOQ1-P9VVeUN7QzVVMVESCTsJrAIOjU1IQgRuf-z1o_BdpNZTnXQ4V2R606oEA_wP7zwI/s640/doilie.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We also used background stamps to created a cool effect on the white cardstock. Since I also wanted to include pictures of the flowers I saw, I re-sized four of them into 2x3 wallet size pictures using PhotoShop Element and combined them on a single 4x6 mat. I few embellishments clustered around, et voilà!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

<br />
This time around, I created a totally different 'look' using the same layout. I made this girly looking layout for my very girly daughter. She loves it!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpaV9onJl9g4Xva-GzqOez_-gJPu8pUBd1Vusqnm6GKeMb9vrd40uwS0gjXJ4TZ0a00ghiMt_jWUH1tt0TKaKMhAm5QlOf7gueLQuT9ylxeJtiQTAoNEhKrLWhhXVKF5UJErtzMo-9S5I/s1600/silly+girl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="324" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpaV9onJl9g4Xva-GzqOez_-gJPu8pUBd1Vusqnm6GKeMb9vrd40uwS0gjXJ4TZ0a00ghiMt_jWUH1tt0TKaKMhAm5QlOf7gueLQuT9ylxeJtiQTAoNEhKrLWhhXVKF5UJErtzMo-9S5I/s640/silly+girl.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Based on an original layout created by Josée Lalonde (SEM)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Again, I made my own doilie, this time using the hearts that were on one of my papers. I cut them with scissors and inked them with Walnut Stain distress ink. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-RIcbEAwSBppeQau0PFYzYCgM-yvgNUQuMRlWpAjAEAyIEmq25v5EIGj0gDpDFTZzbB0_Gi_LmVq_EDBMGuAOvrtByHgBwYT8A7fpzQlETX0teKXHDaTUPcttm5y4fPib1Hbi61_Dsw4/s1600/barbie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-RIcbEAwSBppeQau0PFYzYCgM-yvgNUQuMRlWpAjAEAyIEmq25v5EIGj0gDpDFTZzbB0_Gi_LmVq_EDBMGuAOvrtByHgBwYT8A7fpzQlETX0teKXHDaTUPcttm5y4fPib1Hbi61_Dsw4/s640/barbie.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I found this cute girl chipboard in a sale bin at SEM. I painted it and added a few coats of glimmer glam to give it a glittery effect. I embellished it with pearls and flowers.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj842EmPG1tMXj8YBiwPo_rH_SFhAuPJRVM6fqd_Ezzo_iz3Qg8lLVkHSA6w0fyiu0Q18OvTdtlfnaSoYMP6NcgrKyN6DAxfx3qINRIb_GvB0DIr0zYtbfd6KIX-LEP-RfR3WsPEDi5ZD8/s1600/cameo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="404" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj842EmPG1tMXj8YBiwPo_rH_SFhAuPJRVM6fqd_Ezzo_iz3Qg8lLVkHSA6w0fyiu0Q18OvTdtlfnaSoYMP6NcgrKyN6DAxfx3qINRIb_GvB0DIr0zYtbfd6KIX-LEP-RfR3WsPEDi5ZD8/s640/cameo.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used the new sew stamping around my page, I love how it turned out!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzE3z9nMDSegQeYOn7DoFFiWqZbzy7AoR2IfI51lSJQ7vXuGVBO4a9Q8gPkwyB8XTNX8DF6jyr1bfpWvtAqj5aNdR8nnjI1yhxCLfMLrjoNm3s2UN_Jw-MytB7skPQa8Eut0Mtw5N8Wcw/s1600/goose+bump.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="520" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzE3z9nMDSegQeYOn7DoFFiWqZbzy7AoR2IfI51lSJQ7vXuGVBO4a9Q8gPkwyB8XTNX8DF6jyr1bfpWvtAqj5aNdR8nnjI1yhxCLfMLrjoNm3s2UN_Jw-MytB7skPQa8Eut0Mtw5N8Wcw/s640/goose+bump.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally, I used a beautiful background stamp and spayed it with goosebumps texture spay, a very cool product that adds texture to any surface. You can see it on this picture. I used a beautiful die designed by <a href="http://cheerylynndesigns.com/" target="_blank">cheery lynn designs</a>, a company that I just discovered and that creates some truly amazing dies!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope you enjoyed this post! Happy scrapping everyone!</div>

Well it's time for another 'evolution' post, since I had a few layouts done lately, and a fourth one on the way!<br />
<br />
This time, for the third course of the <a href="http://www.scrapenmasse.com/cours_e.html" target="_blank">Techniques Course #1</a> series, we had to create a layout using distressing techniques, paper scrapper, sand paper, distress ink, stains, eyelets and brads (using the <a href="http://www.weronthenet.com/bigbite" target="_blank">Big Bite</a>, which I finally acquired :o)). This is such a great tool, and I waited for such a long time before getting it! I'm like a man getting his first power tool :o).<br />
<br />
So... this is my very first vintage looking layout. When I created this layout, I knew this is what I wanted to do: vintage scrapbooking! I like every type of scrapbooking, but the one style I LOVE and that I enjoy doing the most is vintage. Here it is:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFy7RtoPV83DGC7vM9px2dVr7NAZ7Qo8mds3Kqa3GUMfx5GC5AdDSKykZt6d30wSruLXlA4w_mNv0fdPtk9nWswkeHLIiQWkSVdCX6llnZoUl9g4fyUqRverogq8SRGlVizJK0IpBDe6k/s1600/highland+couple.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="328" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFy7RtoPV83DGC7vM9px2dVr7NAZ7Qo8mds3Kqa3GUMfx5GC5AdDSKykZt6d30wSruLXlA4w_mNv0fdPtk9nWswkeHLIiQWkSVdCX6llnZoUl9g4fyUqRverogq8SRGlVizJK0IpBDe6k/s640/highland+couple.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I remember not following the proposed layouts when I created this one, simply because I was so inspired by the pictures of my wedding celebration! I used chipboard swirls that I covered with stickles, black soot Ranger's distress ink, and beautiful Prima flowers. Of course, I couldn't resist adding one of <a href="http://rangerink.com/?product=tim-holtz%C2%AE-idea-ology%E2%84%A2-findingsword-keys" target="_blank">Tim</a>'s amazing keys!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQQVKKEZwh4oAD8OPV83ZBSnJfphlyrYpmVCrWyIoDRe-67F7J3aqvJXSnOHLHgfYmsc1aemPFEqg2qEUILfq4BXMurdkAMjEYkrZH3_rAU6hrkEQfa4sbmqarCMToSDAAvYWaWxgyZls/s1600/highland+couple-flowers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQQVKKEZwh4oAD8OPV83ZBSnJfphlyrYpmVCrWyIoDRe-67F7J3aqvJXSnOHLHgfYmsc1aemPFEqg2qEUILfq4BXMurdkAMjEYkrZH3_rAU6hrkEQfa4sbmqarCMToSDAAvYWaWxgyZls/s640/highland+couple-flowers.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This year, for that same course, I decided to use some very nice pictures of my son playing guitar and reading music. It amazes me what my 8 years old boy can do with his instrument, having so much fun playing music on it!<br />
So here is the vintage layout I created for Nicholas:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKjF5z7-SqZI6hDIi2R3-KP7R5kIKbN-_stdeA9PslwZTfSJ5MTnozXU2PGFumpSmlEj3Donaj5NqLWskGrTVJHvb8A5fTdwgWRBfCIkW4-3BF6v1YM_pnlNsd0tgNa3WXiiMSS4aHI_U/s1600/Musique.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKjF5z7-SqZI6hDIi2R3-KP7R5kIKbN-_stdeA9PslwZTfSJ5MTnozXU2PGFumpSmlEj3Donaj5NqLWskGrTVJHvb8A5fTdwgWRBfCIkW4-3BF6v1YM_pnlNsd0tgNa3WXiiMSS4aHI_U/s640/Musique.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">'La Musique dans l'Âme - base on an original layout from Josée Lalonde (SEM)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Since I just got my Big Bite, I decided to put in some eyelets and use burlap tread on my layout. I used 'black sout' (my favorite I think!) and 'aged mahogany' distress inks. Adding corrugated letters added to the overall atmosphere of rustic/simple/peaceful time I spent with my son. This little boy has such a natural talent with music!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQRS1SSiLCz5URqk5thZ3WbSUYuV9WEJ9lBTHbJaiAfO7G-0SDxhblWUBlXJcqYue1VDlNzG0GvkmpqLXYBKtbx52kW2socT20rx2HdFE0vfSR4ZhbYRgRP5e3JOxL1u6RHt891SSLOuI/s1600/Musique-sewing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="334" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQRS1SSiLCz5URqk5thZ3WbSUYuV9WEJ9lBTHbJaiAfO7G-0SDxhblWUBlXJcqYue1VDlNzG0GvkmpqLXYBKtbx52kW2socT20rx2HdFE0vfSR4ZhbYRgRP5e3JOxL1u6RHt891SSLOuI/s640/Musique-sewing.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwK6LRAgO3I54Pn_o-Tzsra4Hr9bUwQWAJa4247RsGd8AHcrb6KXKyu7fz34Kh_KOG_zswnbA5S14QTXpOG6HCWKPmSVpukLW6hI650pezSCeqEzp_pw9xJCQS2h6K6Ud0BmZ_k6bFauc/s1600/Musique-corner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwK6LRAgO3I54Pn_o-Tzsra4Hr9bUwQWAJa4247RsGd8AHcrb6KXKyu7fz34Kh_KOG_zswnbA5S14QTXpOG6HCWKPmSVpukLW6hI650pezSCeqEzp_pw9xJCQS2h6K6Ud0BmZ_k6bFauc/s640/Musique-corner.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now, this is the kind of layout I truly enjoy doing! Whether it is grunge, romantic or nostalgic vintage, I just love it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2Tnxh3gRPKSnWJmbY7neVTk8b8975nFfMvCg-3Hbk2bgfg1fPMgGNKViyzErI2x1QLvcydM9J-gr3NRFBGg7E0Vy6ISsmjVSq4_m1YdMQkHlRL4Gyh1Q_ZHthxH-8P4tn0hkqemO8U7o/s1600/Musique-corner1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="422" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2Tnxh3gRPKSnWJmbY7neVTk8b8975nFfMvCg-3Hbk2bgfg1fPMgGNKViyzErI2x1QLvcydM9J-gr3NRFBGg7E0Vy6ISsmjVSq4_m1YdMQkHlRL4Gyh1Q_ZHthxH-8P4tn0hkqemO8U7o/s640/Musique-corner1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Of course, some journaling to complete the layout, and voilà! If you like this post, leave me a comment!<br />
<br />
Until next time, happy scrapping!<br />

Since I'm on a blogging roll, might as well keep going. In my previous post <a href="http://thecreativecellar.blogspot.ca/2012/05/evolution-1.html" target="_blank">'Evolution 1'</a>, I mentioned this series of upcoming posts presenting some kind of 'before and after' layouts. For more details, go read the post :)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">So here is layout #2 I made during my first time taking the <a href="http://www.scrapenmasse.com/cours_f.html" target="_blank">Scrapbooking Techniques #1</a> course series in 2011.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Based on an original layout created by Josée Lalonde (SEM)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">The goal in making this layout was to learn how to use border punches and find the right paper to enhance our photos. This might seem pretty simple, but for scrapbooking beginners, or those who don't have it in them to combine colours, this can be a challenge. We also learned how to cluster our embellishments.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio5_HI7ot_We0pW0k8-Fg0jgziu7VRGrSibk1qZDeJCpZh8nVpQrY-7OYZOWpv4NmRTjERFC_-nTokVoH2FLD4jn2QEjHBRxTUtfXrYShqpppv-x9HJK4sfUrrxKmGHbJobjOJxpHpU5I/s1600/Petite+fleur-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="562" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio5_HI7ot_We0pW0k8-Fg0jgziu7VRGrSibk1qZDeJCpZh8nVpQrY-7OYZOWpv4NmRTjERFC_-nTokVoH2FLD4jn2QEjHBRxTUtfXrYShqpppv-x9HJK4sfUrrxKmGHbJobjOJxpHpU5I/s640/Petite+fleur-detail.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">My sweet little Alyssa has just turned 2 weeks old on these pictures. looking at this layout bring a lot of fond memories... isn't it what scrapbooking is about? Absolutely!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">So this time around, I made layout #2 about my son's 8th birthday. Here is the layout I made for this same class: Call me MJ.</span><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Based on an original layout created by Josée Lalonde (SEM)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">My son Nicholas likes Michael Jackson's style very much. So when he received the Michael Jackson's Experience Wii game from his big sister, he started dancing like MJ. Good memories and great laugh.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ9_wSJimSruv8BBLEui7e7M_aufItVD0bnOz3ryFqDpvP2uK6V3OM4Pm2u994Jf8abNExZZ32y9yWcZBhBmlkgB60aJhcL2NCioepcsZnBtMNCjz50HO3qzDk8Isz8SzJSyqUhCgiVW0/s1600/Call+me+MJ-detail1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="330" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ9_wSJimSruv8BBLEui7e7M_aufItVD0bnOz3ryFqDpvP2uK6V3OM4Pm2u994Jf8abNExZZ32y9yWcZBhBmlkgB60aJhcL2NCioepcsZnBtMNCjz50HO3qzDk8Isz8SzJSyqUhCgiVW0/s640/Call+me+MJ-detail1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Since this layout is all about fun, I used big chipboard letters that I sanded and embellished with baker's twine.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF5HqK9cIGpxtgz5DZtplvQSiqk-4_mv8It5DCQtn56y5oNEgCq45GnH_Weo6YwQpMipgZ_MKrgvEBkARcMfsGz1xYjD72pDu-MRX7lw-ec0ONbpQR0Ppw3XEcI87TKcQab-dnfK_wvKQ/s1600/Call+me+MJ-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF5HqK9cIGpxtgz5DZtplvQSiqk-4_mv8It5DCQtn56y5oNEgCq45GnH_Weo6YwQpMipgZ_MKrgvEBkARcMfsGz1xYjD72pDu-MRX7lw-ec0ONbpQR0Ppw3XEcI87TKcQab-dnfK_wvKQ/s640/Call+me+MJ-detail3.jpg" width="314" /></a></div>

It's been a long (too long!) time since I had the occasion to finally sit down and blog! But here I am, with many creations to share with you :)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">During the last couple of months, I have been busy creating and preparing for a very exciting life experience: teaching scrapbooking. I have joined the Creative Team at <a href="http://www.scrapenmasse.com/" target="_blank">Scrap en masse</a>, a wonderful scrapbooking store located in Alfred, a little town 45-60 minutes from Ottawa. I will be teaching <a href="http://www.scrapenmasse.com/cours_f.html" target="_blank"> scrapbooking techniques #1 and #2</a>, an upcoming series of vintage techniques and layout classes, and maybe a course on Dylusions. I am really excited about all this!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">In order to teach the two techniques classes, which I attended last year, I needed to take it again so I can learn the new content of this 6-day course. However, most of the exercises are the same, with some variations, and I thought it would be cool to show you the comparable layouts.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">The first layout is made of strips of papers that we combine to make the base of the layout. Basic embellishment were used in this first layout. So this is the layout #1 I made in 2011.</span><br />
<br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The new content of the first class now includes techniques to make handmade flowers, the use of glimmer mist and other medias. Here is the layout #1 I made in 2012.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I like this layout, it is so colourful. I added Apple and Red Velvet glimmer mist on my pages and flowers. I also used glimmer glam on my red handmade flowers.</span><br />

Some collect buttons, glimmer mists or brads, others hoard punches, flowers or ribbons. MY obsession is paper. Every time I enter a scrapbooking store, I loose all common sense when I get anywhere close to paper. This is actually the one scrapbooking goodness that made me fall in love with scrapping. Beautiful papers and I have a long term relationship.... I love the textures, the colours, the patterns, and they all seem unique to me!<br />
<br />
Which can be problematic when the time comes to use them. I am afraid of cutting them, 'hurting' them, even opening a new paper pack feels like a sin to me. I have paper packs that I bought over a year ago that remained untouched. So this weekend, I took one of these leap of faith I was holding on to, and opened TWO brand 'new' packs, nothing less! Not so new in fact, as I am talking about <a href="http://www.basicgrey.com/scrapbook/shop/collections/show/current/out-of-print" target="_blank">'Out of Print'</a> from Basic Grey, and '<a href="http://www.bobunny.com/lightbox/etcetera.html" target="_blank">Et Cetera</a>' from BoBunny. Some of my friends went through 2-3 entire packs each of Et Cetera in the last year, while I watched them, 'envy' them for having the 'strength' to open their paper packs and use them! I admit, I have issues.... :)<br />
<br />
So by deciding to open these two pretty paper packs, I also committed to make one of the nicest layouts I ever made. I was not going to be broken hearted and regret this ultimate decision!<br />
<br />
Here is the double page layout I made using papers from both collection (Out of Print and Et Cetera), as well as 2 pages of the beautiful <a href="http://glitzitnow.com/glitz-products.php" target="_blank">'French Kiss'</a> collection from Glitz for the background page.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoIEBIcwcBKlghNxulFipLzFkAlS1r0ThRovY-JqDocRk9YGWjl9HokklT_nN-52vVQgAzF256rugo0ShGEb9fnTzZ2XQwhDgheiieRKdCahHz0CIn3kbliEjcMqtR3NFcbe8y_JgRqAw/s1600/Double+page.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoIEBIcwcBKlghNxulFipLzFkAlS1r0ThRovY-JqDocRk9YGWjl9HokklT_nN-52vVQgAzF256rugo0ShGEb9fnTzZ2XQwhDgheiieRKdCahHz0CIn3kbliEjcMqtR3NFcbe8y_JgRqAw/s640/Double+page.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I love the romantic atmosphere that transpires in this layout, the colours and the multiple layers of paper I created. Here is a close-up of page 1.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGMd60NIRE7Crv0I9OThJSGYRS54Rm_zdLKZPQpVJmnz_hQ6dEWAdGiFcVDDsnmzJWvKMBtsPVbC4mpxaSHrSZW4Xa7accF98g_prISJlqaZSUfuu3OP9Y5Sn3NspBsVeVpi6BimQEtW8/s1600/Page+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="628" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGMd60NIRE7Crv0I9OThJSGYRS54Rm_zdLKZPQpVJmnz_hQ6dEWAdGiFcVDDsnmzJWvKMBtsPVbC4mpxaSHrSZW4Xa7accF98g_prISJlqaZSUfuu3OP9Y5Sn3NspBsVeVpi6BimQEtW8/s640/Page+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As I often do, I distressed and aged the paper using distress ink and stain to give it a vintage look. I also made an opening in the corner where flowers are peeking out, as if they were growing behind the paper.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg29zP2RakEs5tYZRm8VnCpQjMMwSdMjpdDVXliTRLmsdvFTY-sehlSqUuXKxPuy0SO6m4oYJYU7dcRaWJcv1oJRdn0Y5b-myw1bN73GN8j30YTiWDnt6BPedkCvhh7bya-LtITzG47SJk/s1600/Corner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg29zP2RakEs5tYZRm8VnCpQjMMwSdMjpdDVXliTRLmsdvFTY-sehlSqUuXKxPuy0SO6m4oYJYU7dcRaWJcv1oJRdn0Y5b-myw1bN73GN8j30YTiWDnt6BPedkCvhh7bya-LtITzG47SJk/s640/Corner.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is a close-up of page 2. This page took quite a few hours to create, as my head was blooming with ideas! I wanted to create a multi-layered layout because it makes me used many of the papers I like, but just in small pieces so I am left with plenty to use on other layouts! This is perfect for the paper lover that I am...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcaUZgWp0JDvvPq-xhs2lnlsGWNJHgOeajT9WjKpQXUKJ7hGY1Rzmlfy6Cqsn1wel6uee7etkjn5j57DTtnD038I1C4yMDY1qiL2RKNgZLwfbdn5Y_8nwoRAxp5QHJmdizZ7C8tFn0u-I/s1600/Page+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="630" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcaUZgWp0JDvvPq-xhs2lnlsGWNJHgOeajT9WjKpQXUKJ7hGY1Rzmlfy6Cqsn1wel6uee7etkjn5j57DTtnD038I1C4yMDY1qiL2RKNgZLwfbdn5Y_8nwoRAxp5QHJmdizZ7C8tFn0u-I/s640/Page+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I painted swirls on one of my canvas butterflies (Maya Road) using glimmer glam (Tattered Angels), which I also sprayed with glimmer mist from the same company.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeQeGiPxOH_ojsrYtPWQTyP8hg11XL63Mu3I30xgrR9XxzxUqu9XZKtateZD6gmz4n6QCjTyTkbSPb_Nce96cnk0DZoRQRzpQw9EV-7cpVUVdEZsrJBH55gnKXs9GqyiPINPJ-0vrOpWU/s1600/Butterfly.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeQeGiPxOH_ojsrYtPWQTyP8hg11XL63Mu3I30xgrR9XxzxUqu9XZKtateZD6gmz4n6QCjTyTkbSPb_Nce96cnk0DZoRQRzpQw9EV-7cpVUVdEZsrJBH55gnKXs9GqyiPINPJ-0vrOpWU/s640/Butterfly.jpg" width="424" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course, I couldn't create such a romantic layout without putting one of my favorites elements: the Tim Holtz keys are also one of my obsessions, that I preserve and use only on very special layouts or cards...<br />
<br />

We had a lot of fun and we created in a very relaxed atmosphere. This was a good place for me to be at the time, because I was tasked, as a design team member for </span><a href="http://www.tinascrapbooking.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Tina's Scrapbooking Creations</span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">, to create layouts with some paper collections that do not correspond to my usual style; I named </span><a href="http://karenfosterdesign.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?cat=1231&q=hockey" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Karen Foster design hockey paper collection</span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> and </span><a href="http://www.imaginisce.com/paper-crafting/products.aspx?col=77" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Imaginisce Hippity Hop paper collection.</span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">So, I had to think outside the box... to say that I was out of my comfort zone is an huge understatement! To boost my inspiration, I picked some of my favorite pictures of the kids. Here is what I created with the hockey paper.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI4HTH3WI1tFQxUgqi1uu6ejSK_-PXKM9kKquVEqHhdLngUihxbLRC5gdVMkBgv1J8VqXxE9OSqn6_XgzqrXin_UFhsR8DMiuSmhHCQQoyX-sctcsUd2LFwnEdlfX35ZJYqZ0xFvb_4UM/s1600/hockey+Nico.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img border="0" height="326" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI4HTH3WI1tFQxUgqi1uu6ejSK_-PXKM9kKquVEqHhdLngUihxbLRC5gdVMkBgv1J8VqXxE9OSqn6_XgzqrXin_UFhsR8DMiuSmhHCQQoyX-sctcsUd2LFwnEdlfX35ZJYqZ0xFvb_4UM/s640/hockey+Nico.jpg" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Since I just love working with corrugated cardboard, I used plenty of it on this layout to give it a boyish and grungy look. I used black shinny cardstock that kind of gives a icy look to the background. I like the final result! This is more 'me' than I expected when I started working on it.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The second layout I made is a single page of my little sweetie when she turned 3 years old. She received a cute raincoat and hat outfit from my Mom for her birthday and played that 'going on a trip' game. Using some of the Imaginisce Hippity Hop paper and white dotted cardstock, I created a girly and childish looking layout.</span><br />

There was ten of them, not counting the ones who died very early in life. From what I can remember, it was not so unusual to have them all together on Christmas time, when I was young. But as years went by, it became more and more difficult for them to meet. In 2004, as we celebrated on a many 50th wedding anniversaries, we were finally able to have them all together and take a memorable picture. Of course, two were no longer of this world, but we were happy to capture this unique moment with all the ones who were present with their spouse. Since then, six left for the other world, and among them, my dear father.<br />
<br />
I was lucky enough to get a copy of this beautiful picture. For the longest time, I didn't know what to do with it... until I finally got inspired! So I created a very vintage looking layout to surround all these people that I loved and still love with all my heart.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju0EQiJdj62dekLCCbnw1dM14BlwHlW8dvF4891ymm4KgMPM-ZfkGqZUqK-KYm1LFsD0mJShHuoIFogUsMuLtapDQUaKe2Ul24er_lXQMmhoAZqOjWEs7n6LhfiGjjamhh9qGfNHjRkPE/s1600/Clan+Noreau_edited-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="631" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju0EQiJdj62dekLCCbnw1dM14BlwHlW8dvF4891ymm4KgMPM-ZfkGqZUqK-KYm1LFsD0mJShHuoIFogUsMuLtapDQUaKe2Ul24er_lXQMmhoAZqOjWEs7n6LhfiGjjamhh9qGfNHjRkPE/s640/Clan+Noreau_edited-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Le Clan Noreau</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I had a real pleasure creating this layout, and I did it as part of a design team project for <a href="http://www.tinascrapbooking.com/" target="_blank">Tina's Scrapbooking</a>, using the beautiful <a href="http://www.primamarketinginc.com/index.php/products/collection-1/printery-1.html" target="_blank">Printery paper</a> collection (Prima Marketing). I created flowers out of glassine paper (Tim Holtz), using glimmer mist, distress stain and distress ink to give them the exact colour I wanted. I particularly worked hard on the cream one as I didn't have the exact shade of glimmer mist I needed. Plus, glassine doesn't take colour very well, so I had to ink, stain and mist intensively to get this result. I love the vintage look I got in the end.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu2LYHpN6Y-ronQz6T6ujzSMLljg9uVnplcCfLnO7RoKGQk7MIcNEQCTpM5BSOaCLulRjzGvluHszxj5sKMrwhIOr2GsZJUJ27UkLva5itSnPyd_zWsPCq1VrlGAUppJo9fux8gmlPyzo/s1600/close-up+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span id="goog_1933437183"></span><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu2LYHpN6Y-ronQz6T6ujzSMLljg9uVnplcCfLnO7RoKGQk7MIcNEQCTpM5BSOaCLulRjzGvluHszxj5sKMrwhIOr2GsZJUJ27UkLva5itSnPyd_zWsPCq1VrlGAUppJo9fux8gmlPyzo/s640/close-up+2.jpg" width="640" /><span id="goog_1933437184"></span></a></div>
<br />
A couple of months ago, my brother, who recently re-decorated his house with new curtains, wall paper, etc., brought me a nice loot of goodies: textile, ribbons, beautiful curtain ties and loads of wine labels! Just breath taking! I decided to use a piece of curtain tie, along with this gorgeous lace I had laying around for months, to create a nice border. I punched and distressed two little butterfly, and voilà!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjimPxYMoqYyF8ylKnzJunf-0qsjxpoZwBb5eZrFKlXI-3dEBKonYFZLl8kTMK1HkTe-esAaX3i-OMuIfdHTS1Jv0Ol8nONso4vzhlyjtSkXEe9WuPwwN7HEfILx0WR8mpMuOd-L3AwhhA/s1600/close-up+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjimPxYMoqYyF8ylKnzJunf-0qsjxpoZwBb5eZrFKlXI-3dEBKonYFZLl8kTMK1HkTe-esAaX3i-OMuIfdHTS1Jv0Ol8nONso4vzhlyjtSkXEe9WuPwwN7HEfILx0WR8mpMuOd-L3AwhhA/s640/close-up+3.jpg" width="424" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Finally, one of the sheet in the Printery collection had letters all over it, allowing me to create a 'family crest'. I cut around the N and used gold acrylic paint to put more emphasis on the letter, and the edge of the crest. I covered it with a thick layer of Tim Holtz Glossy Accent.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2UwRLhd4zRXuiFKju-zbNZ5fq3FtUj-CYUirALcy1VhwkRvtE8sT1ti6LKAW7KITn1ZyR-4F1JsPD5xUhaNMr17cxZh1ixlBIL5P4yeZL8tLAIhLXbJ9InMr6tEWHNrWI8lfZ4upF7-g/s1600/close-up+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2UwRLhd4zRXuiFKju-zbNZ5fq3FtUj-CYUirALcy1VhwkRvtE8sT1ti6LKAW7KITn1ZyR-4F1JsPD5xUhaNMr17cxZh1ixlBIL5P4yeZL8tLAIhLXbJ9InMr6tEWHNrWI8lfZ4upF7-g/s640/close-up+4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Of course, I put this crest close to my dear Papa, as he was so proud of his family. And I am so proud of who he was...<br />
<br />
I hope you like this new layout!<br />
Have fun scrapping!<br />

My daugther loves scrapbooking and she is especially very keen on knowing how I created certain elements, whether it is a flower, a crafty boarder or anything I made from scratch.<br />
<br />
I had these amazing canvas butterflies from <a href="http://www.mayaroad.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=227_228&products_id=173699" target="_blank">Maya Road</a> for quite a while, and wasn't sure how and where to use them. Of course, doing a layout about my daughter inspired me... So here is what I did with one of them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDGj4FjlX50gjOpCkBTVja20tBUBtpFhGMT90vKYG_LyFK9ghBcvnyA1bBdlgvTi4Sx3yMwvXiQ2dYIdmcgARb-8hLuShsZ8IOJ70YrYYPLJfLp1yKwIRBTm9iq-9OPzTPgDzBXr7ATqY/s1600/blue+butterflie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDGj4FjlX50gjOpCkBTVja20tBUBtpFhGMT90vKYG_LyFK9ghBcvnyA1bBdlgvTi4Sx3yMwvXiQ2dYIdmcgARb-8hLuShsZ8IOJ70YrYYPLJfLp1yKwIRBTm9iq-9OPzTPgDzBXr7ATqY/s640/blue+butterflie.jpg" width="640" yda="true" /></a></div>
<br />
I layered a lot of glimmer mist, and I top coated it with Maya Mist in <a href="http://www.mayaroad.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=198_199&products_id=173226" target="_blank">Silver Plated</a>. I love this product! I then added some pearls (perfect pearl) and used glimmer glam to colour them (many different colours). I placed a pretty Prima flower to enhance the beauty of the butterfly.<br />
<br />
I made another butterfly for the other page, but a pink one. I painted swirls all over the canvas with Chandelier glimmer glam to create a resist and spayed Party Pink glimmer mist on top. The resist effect worked, but the swirls were so pale that I re-painted them with Pearl acrylic paint (Adirondack). Here is the result...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRRM4Lu7VrLNgnEkbiL3UTcPQ_V9ZPxA8JmB7aQugkWTnwuLZPmQKCptTFrPjl1jVk1zncQg_PPhyphenhyphenFUQjYuJ7M80P_scHV2Txon0m23paO1wIhpmC1ooP558HQGiQeF6wwsPb1VibFf5I/s1600/Pink+butterflie_edited-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRRM4Lu7VrLNgnEkbiL3UTcPQ_V9ZPxA8JmB7aQugkWTnwuLZPmQKCptTFrPjl1jVk1zncQg_PPhyphenhyphenFUQjYuJ7M80P_scHV2Txon0m23paO1wIhpmC1ooP558HQGiQeF6wwsPb1VibFf5I/s640/Pink+butterflie_edited-1.jpg" width="640" yda="true" /></a></div>
<br />
To add a bit of relief, I created a border with a few stripes of paper and one of my favorite border punch (Fiskar); I used foam squares to attach it to the layout.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRe8Fil_IMkvZ-vfMyGNhtoxlLsQD-WmjIUkSJv9kC72HauRWYcRecyqteyAxKs-XFPD3LNdmXAV_ZcVCZRQ9IGCMFkPGc46T6yHDOxMhhFAGSx5dhkUQGNkseGTM5VPwrNA4qXv7c2jw/s1600/border.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRe8Fil_IMkvZ-vfMyGNhtoxlLsQD-WmjIUkSJv9kC72HauRWYcRecyqteyAxKs-XFPD3LNdmXAV_ZcVCZRQ9IGCMFkPGc46T6yHDOxMhhFAGSx5dhkUQGNkseGTM5VPwrNA4qXv7c2jw/s640/border.jpg" width="640" yda="true" /></a></div>
<br />
So here is the end result:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-KhEK424A99fudhbpI7SReDRE83nOm9LmPFf2ktXR87jYgDta4pWO3Ccn2obDIKcVrkcof6NG6vZRkcWE79MJFKC114HFncJCspf7KAPiePVN0X9uoeES3IHcNsFymXPhCmvMOukR4MY/s1600/She's+all+that.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="331" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-KhEK424A99fudhbpI7SReDRE83nOm9LmPFf2ktXR87jYgDta4pWO3Ccn2obDIKcVrkcof6NG6vZRkcWE79MJFKC114HFncJCspf7KAPiePVN0X9uoeES3IHcNsFymXPhCmvMOukR4MY/s640/She's+all+that.jpg" width="640" yda="true" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a very girly yet sophisticate looking paper collection - Posh - from <a href="http://teresacollinsdesigns.com/" target="_blank">Theresa Collins</a>. It was love at first sight between this paper and I and I knew I would use it for my daughter! The letters I used are from BasicGrey and I misted them with <a href="http://www.mayaroad.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=198_199&products_id=173584" target="_blank">Snow White</a> Maya Mist for an iridescent look. Since I did this layout at a crop, I didn't have a wide choice of letters. I find them a little overpowering for the layout... but at the same time, they give a little childish look to the whole layout! So I like it!<br />
<br />
Thank for reading!<br />

Every Valentine's Day, I carry on with my tradition of making my own handmade cards for my immediate family... my hubby, Alyssa and Nico always receive Valentine's card made with love.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This year, I used more glimmer mist than I did previously. All three cards are misted in the front and the back, using the same mask for the kids' cards. For all three cards, I used little hearts from <a href="http://www.mayaroad.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_150&products_id=173214" target="_blank">Maya Road 'love mini chipboard set'</a> that I inked, misted, and then covered with one of my faves: <a href="http://www.rangerink.com/products/prod_paint_distresscrackle.htm" target="_blank">Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint</a> from Tim Holtz.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here is Alyssa's card... an ultra feminine look for a super girly girl! She loves it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvc2F_PcOu6hfOuP4O00dVFsNE3KJQQMSdVRvFN91VevThDgCgQd33omRU_osPfhaNKU_vXOZt5Plb5MB0ir3iu6zEEY26LKInWGac2l5VE3wzNPmr_NYKNdD-_2b_Dgt_q8-niTvON6g/s640/blogger-image--740480550.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvc2F_PcOu6hfOuP4O00dVFsNE3KJQQMSdVRvFN91VevThDgCgQd33omRU_osPfhaNKU_vXOZt5Plb5MB0ir3iu6zEEY26LKInWGac2l5VE3wzNPmr_NYKNdD-_2b_Dgt_q8-niTvON6g/s640/blogger-image--740480550.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As for Nicholas' card, I went with a more masculine look. Using the same mask, I glimmer misted the front and back of the card, and I added a very red heart that I wrapped with rafia! Simple, but pretty without being too girly... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And here is the card I made for Scotty... very grungy! I used the same Maya Road hearts set, along with a small <a href="http://www.timholtz.com/grungeboard.htm" target="_blank">Tim Holtz grungeboard key</a> that I completely distressed with all kinds of mediums: ink, crackle paint, pearl paint, and more ink! You should see my pretty fingers day... ;o). I also embossed the front of the card (Tim Holtz) , I inked it and finally, I sprayed it with glimmer mist.</div>

Merry Belated Christmas Everyone!Who, among all of you, fellow scrapbookers, ever went through a creativity rut? Well, if you haven't, I envy you...<br />
<br />
For the last 2 months, I have been dragging myself around, hoping that something would inspire me to go back to my favorite addiction. Anything, from colours, photos, papers, magazines to blogs and websites, left me completely blah. Even CHA didn't get me going... there was truly something wrong with me. I checked out articles like <a href="http://www.scrapbook.com/tips/doc/17519/232.html" target="_blank">'Getting out of a non-creative rut'</a>, and <a href="http://www.simplyscrapbooking.com/creativity-rut.htm" target="_blank">'Get Out of the Scrapbook Creativity Rut!'</a> but it didn't really help. How discouraged I felt....<br />
<br />
And then, one night that I felt very frustrated and upset, I flew down to my scraproom to get some peace and quiet time. I grabbed some Christmas pictures I had handy and decided to create something out of them. Happiness, peace, relaxation... it all rushed back to my mind and my heart! Welcome back, I said... yes, I talk and sing all by myself in my cellar! How satisfying it was to finally recover these feelings that are so hard to describe. I scrapped until 3:00 am that night. Pure delight. And this is what I did:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_0F2fgEmFXDXGqxN8dfEADoKmXYzYd6ZA5rvLIsTCxFZCEHZIrxhaczqolD34diKMvoTpCUyDVjRvPcJycNmE8AShc6D0oH8hASiRwYlTV00fCPfOVBCPWTIi7-USzjBklPBuSJriqGo/s1600/Christmas+tradition.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" sda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_0F2fgEmFXDXGqxN8dfEADoKmXYzYd6ZA5rvLIsTCxFZCEHZIrxhaczqolD34diKMvoTpCUyDVjRvPcJycNmE8AShc6D0oH8hASiRwYlTV00fCPfOVBCPWTIi7-USzjBklPBuSJriqGo/s640/Christmas+tradition.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This layout is about this tradition we have in my family to put our pj's on, make hot cocoa for the kids, and coffee and Baileys for hubby and I, when the time comes to decorate our Christmas tree.<br />
<br />
I made a lot of sewing on the layout; I used Sew Easy, it is really easy to use! You just need a little bit of patience.... I also used shimmery cardstock from DCWV (Neutrals), and paper from <a href="http://www.mymindseye.com/LF2/0003Rosy.asp" target="_blank">My Mind's Eye - Rosy Collection</a>. I also used <a href="http://www.jillibean-soup.com/site/corrugated_alphas_landing.php" target="_blank">Jillibean Soup corrugated alphas</a> that I stained with Picked Fence Distress Stain (Tim Holtz) and covered with Chandelier Tattered Angel glimmer glam, for a frosty look. I really like the result!<br />
<br />
This was my first layout since the crop my friend Natalie held at her place early January. This crop was very special as we (the Divas, and a guest-Diva) decided to use the same Christmas kit for one-day crop. You can see our posts on <a href="http://mamanhall.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Natalie's blog.</a> All five of us have a blog entry... this is mine: <a href="http://mamanhall.blogspot.com/2012/01/nathalie-noreau-mcleod.html" target="_blank">'One group kit, and amazing day!'</a>.<br />
<br />
My creativity rut was already acting up on that day, and all I have done was two layouts. Not productive at all, when you think I spent over 12 hours in my friend's house... This layout is about my goofy hubby wearing my son's elf tuque:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEPzpnolCay0iNNHDu_P_VHS1oWRGfTKGmUS7wway6ug92Frlr9W0Q4GzfdN_uwJfRrnFVFwqeaTlOJjTpYFQfaoTpWXEmKdNoA7gTfA36qd_37gbn3QxIIkjqS98QHNoIyvKSGlmYtEo/s1600/Santa's+helper1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="624" sda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEPzpnolCay0iNNHDu_P_VHS1oWRGfTKGmUS7wway6ug92Frlr9W0Q4GzfdN_uwJfRrnFVFwqeaTlOJjTpYFQfaoTpWXEmKdNoA7gTfA36qd_37gbn3QxIIkjqS98QHNoIyvKSGlmYtEo/s640/Santa's+helper1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Lots of glimmer mist, drops of glimmer glam, heat embossing, massing distressing and inking, some sewing, and a lot of fun! This is my kind of layout: lots of work, lots of creativity and lots of happiness creating something from scratch.<br />
<br />
My second and last layout of the day is entitled Christmas Cuddles, a title my friend Sylvie helped me find. Here it is:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpIDx6tnNL_0AjFe3Ww2tAhZcLgizInFNHJ-HrC1KXlN9-d-q4RGew3vQVEiiO5BoW2B5xSAn4ngpHT6Af3Heic-IGwHst42zRCA0qtZyvN-zi3kaPn8jrfHBHinl-_aKBGIv80JS4EwE/s1600/Christmas+cuddles.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="588" sda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpIDx6tnNL_0AjFe3Ww2tAhZcLgizInFNHJ-HrC1KXlN9-d-q4RGew3vQVEiiO5BoW2B5xSAn4ngpHT6Af3Heic-IGwHst42zRCA0qtZyvN-zi3kaPn8jrfHBHinl-_aKBGIv80JS4EwE/s640/Christmas+cuddles.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This layout is all about love and tenderness. The best thing in life is my kids hugging me and me hugging them. Paper in this layout is also from <a href="http://www.mymindseye.com/LF2/0003Rosy.asp" target="_blank">My Mind's Eye - Rosy Collection</a>. I used <a href="http://www.mayaroad.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_10&products_id=173511" target="_blank">Maya Road snowflake chipboard</a> that I covered with <a href="http://www.timholtz.com/dabbers.htm" target="_blank">Adirondack Metallics Paint Dabbers</a> in Pearl. This is my favorite colour in this paint collection. The little frame is from Pink Paislee Mistables, and I covered it with Be Positive glimmer glam, which my friend Natalie lent me. I love the result.<br />
<br />
So, dear friends, if you get into one of these creativity ruts, don't be discouraged. It will come back one day or the other... in the mean time, enjoy doing other things!! You will soon feel like scrapping again!<br />
<br />
Cheers, and thanks for stopping by!<br />

First of all, Happy New Year to all of you!<br />
<br />
This Christmas, my dear hubby offered me a shelving unit I've been wanting for quite a while.... It is an Ikea Expedit shelving unit, with compartments that can hold 12x12 containers! So I was gladly able to finally classify and organize my scrapbooking kits, papers and cardstock in some logical order for the first time in years! YAY!<br />
<br />
As much as I LOVE scrapbooking, my second favorite activity is probably to organize my stuff, or my 'stash' to use an expression from the industry. I draw real pleasure from putting my tools and stash in order and make it more efficient to use. So, here are a few pics to show you how I organized my stuff to start 2012!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiyk5xewFBDS1s5fGZpKsMxraVK05ha8uKtvc5el9VsTcO02KmJzNdRhJO9yF65Aw_bWSB8wj5HcthEUmT7VMZsHz6y0DXo6kORpGxUSH1Ynuz64qjvVJQ6xHT1y32LrAeONvsafR9Nxo/s1600/DSC_0454.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiyk5xewFBDS1s5fGZpKsMxraVK05ha8uKtvc5el9VsTcO02KmJzNdRhJO9yF65Aw_bWSB8wj5HcthEUmT7VMZsHz6y0DXo6kORpGxUSH1Ynuz64qjvVJQ6xHT1y32LrAeONvsafR9Nxo/s640/DSC_0454.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I tried to gather my tools, stamps, inks, papers, bling, etc. in a efficient way so I save time when I look for something. So here are all my punches in one big basket that fits into one of my shelf compartment.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFPe0yFgu5ArtzK2_KSv9jpicXxzLOMsBiZig3sg0AQRAZ-34e72Wyuhc2Ebaz2twBilqOL6ljuffVxcuC8D-kcXUl_lFQzeYDq2Ku19hNngsTzmzK0jQL6l3u-697aIQNlUd1bIKEul0/s1600/DSC_0459.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFPe0yFgu5ArtzK2_KSv9jpicXxzLOMsBiZig3sg0AQRAZ-34e72Wyuhc2Ebaz2twBilqOL6ljuffVxcuC8D-kcXUl_lFQzeYDq2Ku19hNngsTzmzK0jQL6l3u-697aIQNlUd1bIKEul0/s640/DSC_0459.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My ribbons are wrapped around 6x6 foam pieces, by colour or theme (lace, rick rack, Halloween, etc.). My brads are also stored together, in individual containers. So when I leave for a crop, I gather the little jars and foam pieces I need, using minimum space in my bag!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the same compartment are my Close to my Heart ink pads together with my acrylic stamps. Along with my new shelving unit, my husband bought some dividers, allowing to store smaller items while using maximum space.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also have a couple of transparent bins that can hold my 12x12 paper. So I organized patterned paper by colour and style (girly, boyish, vintage, neutral, etc.). I did the same with the kits and cardstock.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These nice little wooden boxes are actually cigar boxes! They are so cute... I bought them for $2 each the last time I picked up cigars for my husband in a specialty store. I find them perfect to store extra ribbons, rolls, and what not.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And one of the best thing about this shelving unit is that it can host my albums, until they are complete and ready to graduate to the living room!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally, here is what I call my 'get dirty space'. This is basically a portable island I bought many years ago at Ikea, and that I converted to a scrap table where I can mist, ink, paint, spritz, you name it. I lay a Tattered Angel craft mat on top of a thick shower curtain that actually protects the wood of my table. Perrrrfect!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

As some of you know, I lost my Father on March 30th of this year. My dear Papa was a very important reference in my family, and all of us, his children, sought for his blessing for any life changing decisions we were making... right 'til the end. Papa was the kind of person who helped you weigh the pros and cons of everything, with a very critical eye. It was not always easy to deal with him and his recommendations, but whenever we did, we were so grateful for his wise advises, whether we admitted it or not.<br />
<br />
So this year marks my first Christmas, my first 'everything' in fact, without him. And this is hard. I am dreading this upcoming Christmas, especially knowing that Christmas was one of his favourite holidays. Papa was 'Un bon vivant' like we say in French, someone who enjoys a good time with good company! This year will have to be about celebrating his life, and everything he brought to us, rather that mourning our loss. He wouldn't want us to be sad... so with everything my Dad brought to our family, we owe him to be strong, united, and happy.<br />
<br />
A couple of months ago, I felt the need to create a nice 'decor' for the most recent and last picture I have of Papa. Using a <a href="http://www.creativememories.com/" target="_blank">Creative Memories</a> display frame I had for a while, I used paper from the beautiful paper collection <a href="http://simplestories.typepad.com/simple_stories/gen.html" target="_blank">Generations (Simple Stories)</a> to create a layout for this special picture, taken last Christmas.<br />
<br />
So here is what I did: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAAyhttt0SSLOL2IAYHaX9HjzgO_G_bOAkS8zpF4V_iSa5o1x8LqIAH5kI8EVh8pVneJvuhJQuukqUEIBER4dN1_hyphenhyphenSYIrZ3br8Z2cD6PdfXD0Gr8clBvgNpGJQx0djxPUnheD5AbZZcc/s1600/Papa-Generations.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="cssfloat: right; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAAyhttt0SSLOL2IAYHaX9HjzgO_G_bOAkS8zpF4V_iSa5o1x8LqIAH5kI8EVh8pVneJvuhJQuukqUEIBER4dN1_hyphenhyphenSYIrZ3br8Z2cD6PdfXD0Gr8clBvgNpGJQx0djxPUnheD5AbZZcc/s640/Papa-Generations.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Choosing colours that he particularly liked (his favourite season was fall), I created a background that talks about generations, memories, and the comfort of raw materials (burlap, metal, crackle paint, texture).<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;">I know he would have liked this special layout for his picture. Papa and I shared this love for intricate art, aged metal, old trinkets, textures and burlap, and earthy colours. I loved our Sunday mornings' excursion to the flea market together...we did this for years. These fond memories will stay with me for the rest of my life, just as much as the happy Christmas we spent with him over the years. This probably explains my love for vintage looking layouts and altered art....</span><br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;">Je t'aime Papa. Joyeux Noël, et s'il te plait, viens nous rejoindre pour célébrer... </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/85954/the_creative_cellar/8dccf1aac4bae570ce385cd31cdd5479.png" style="background: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px;" /></a></div>Nathalie Noreauhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08149393137461431109noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8610278859157434555.post-16311520445704973722011-11-29T01:18:00.000-05:002011-11-29T12:05:24.113-05:00Mini Album - Mega Work!Recently, Tina from <a href="http://www.tinascrapbooking.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">Tina's Scrapbooking</span></a> asked me if I could make a couple of projects using the <a href="http://simplestories.typepad.com/simple_stories/gen.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">Generations</span></a> collection from <a href="http://simplestories.typepad.com/simple_stories/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">Simple Stories</span></a>. Being a vintage-style fanatic, I was very happy and excited to use this beautiful paper collection! I got a few small wooden pages to create a cute mini-album, and off I went to my cellar!<br />
<br />
I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted to create, but I didn't expect spending sooooo much time making this mini!! In the end, though, I am pretty happy with the results... As I was starting to work on this project, my friend Natalie took a picture of me, that she posted on her <a href="http://mamanhall.blogspot.com/2011/11/saturday-special-nov-26.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">blog</span></a>. You can see how small these pages are!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNBEtrpLqLcBI0YPMIRsO8ntddxHnGU1AL-90nsQkhbm_ZZw7jEFtxmFyfpBLovaAq8peHo12tfeW0M8stSrqkAPhay8hHzcAIt3ojIdkOeBuy3i-WKDTR19GGwg4DlGgM732whx5yIbs/s1600/Mini+Album" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNBEtrpLqLcBI0YPMIRsO8ntddxHnGU1AL-90nsQkhbm_ZZw7jEFtxmFyfpBLovaAq8peHo12tfeW0M8stSrqkAPhay8hHzcAIt3ojIdkOeBuy3i-WKDTR19GGwg4DlGgM732whx5yIbs/s640/Mini+Album" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is the outcome, a few weeks later (I couldn't work on this project as often as I wished!).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghcR0Q28O1V5q8fGUm_Fl6O47qHh4DSXH4FdDHYKe8zvbE8bRQoPyhViiMSAjKPhR2DPnDGMu1plxAMxWKqiwxRVlnxwM_iiEsc2HOhg5MjoRryvMflc5hHUg7SRwmL5mgJIbQUkXlbMQ/s1600/Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dda="true" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghcR0Q28O1V5q8fGUm_Fl6O47qHh4DSXH4FdDHYKe8zvbE8bRQoPyhViiMSAjKPhR2DPnDGMu1plxAMxWKqiwxRVlnxwM_iiEsc2HOhg5MjoRryvMflc5hHUg7SRwmL5mgJIbQUkXlbMQ/s640/Cover.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I entitled this mini-album 'Blessings'. It tells the story of my little family and reminds us of how lucky we are to be healthy and have each other. This is a fact that we often forget about... we sometimes have a lot for ourselves, and take it for granted.<br />
<br />
Now; I can hear some of you asking: 'Where are you going to store that album?!'. 'This is bulky, not my cup of tea!'. To which I will answer that this is the kind of little album you put on the coffee table so people can flip through if they want to. It gets the conversation going...<br />
<br />
So here is how it unfolds.... let me know what you think!<br />
<br />

I created a couple of mini-albums in my mini... I didn't have enough pages to put all the pictures I wanted, so here is what I did to add more:<br />

Hey everyone! I'm not sure if this is going to work, but I added an electronic signature of my blog. Many thank to my dear friend Natalie (<a href="http://mamanhall.blogspot.com/2011/11/paper-storage.html">http://mamanhall.blogspot.com/2011/11/paper-storage.html</a>) who posted a link where I could create my signature!</div>
<br />
Off to a super crop tomorrow, Saturday November 19th, at Dixon's Corner. More to come from this event, and a new mini album for <a href="http://www.tinascrapbooking.com/">http://www.tinascrapbooking.com/</a>, that I will be posting here very shortly!<br />

For me, this special day was about celebrating Remembrance Day in a very special way. Every year, on November 11, I realize that I am very fortunate to have my husband with me. My love retired from the military 6 years ago, after spending 20 years of his life serving our country. I am also blessed I got to meet him after he retired, while he didn't have to leave on mission for months, leaving my children and I behind. When I think that I might have not met him, I feel like a big void would have always occupied my heart.<br /><br />So on this Remembrance Day, I decided that I wanted to have our children with us, rather than taking them to school. I wanted this day to be a special one, where I can truly thank my Scotty for what he did and sacrificed for our country. We went downtown, all four of us, and attended the ceremony. It was very touching to hear Scott explaining the kids the different steps, music, prayers and traditions taking place during the ceremony.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5675031389054109314" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMvUwSmF55Lo1pp5CxKl4Ny7HHANYn8lSptkmEuKIkFB2G-v5-sfK9-IIZYhbK3eBcnK9UKCo4frJZtG00Vz8OWtKezfPUwznRVMlSc6oTTMAXyFXP6DAv8Uzjvzqcw5SE8UnNgOPGNJ4/s400/Remembrance+Day+2011.jpg" /><br />On 11/11/11 I also realized that I should stop being scared of writing on my blog. For the last six weeks, I came up with every possible reason not to populate this blog:<br />- I am French Canadian, what if I make mistakes when I write in English?<br />- What am I going to say?<br />- Will people read my blog if I write a little bit in French sometimes?<br />- What if it’s just plain boring?<br />- I always finished what I started, what’s wrong with me??<br />- Who wants to know about me anyway?!!<br /><br />But on this special day, when I realized that we are blessed to be alive and have one another, it no longer mattered whether my blog was good or sucked, whether I wrote in English, French or Spanish, whether others liked it or not. I decided that my blog would be some kind of storytelling – beside my scrapbooking of course – for when my children are old enough to read it. It will always be there for them somewhere on the web, as a legacy, to help them understand me a little better at every post.<br /><br />So here I am, making a resolution on 11/11/11. I am not the type of girl to make resolutions on New Years’ Day... I make them as I go through life. And when I feel strong enough to embrace them, I take a leap of faith.<br /><br />So... stay tuned. There’s more to come.<br />Nathalie</p>Nathalie Noreauhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08149393137461431109noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8610278859157434555.post-92090065663470118832011-10-01T23:26:00.000-04:002011-10-03T08:02:47.878-04:00New Beginnings!<span style="font-family: "Georgia", "serif";">Hi everyone! Today, I received some great news, which resulted in one of the best days of my life! I was picked to be part of the Design Team at Tina's Scrapbooking Creations! To say that I am super happy is an understatement... I am ecstatic!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Georgia", "serif";">When I started creating my own cards in 2005, I never thought that crafts would become such an integral part of my life. As a scrapbooker, I truly enjoy dedicating at least a few minutes (if not hours!) to it each day. I like to try new techniques and experiment with different mediums - inks, stains, grunge board, crackled paint, glimmer mist/glam/glaze, you name it! My preferred style is vintage, with a sophisticated look; I also get grungy from time to time!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Georgia", "serif";">New techniques excite me and I sometimes attend scrapbooking classes to stay current. For inspiration, I also read magazines, blogs, exchange tips and tricks with my scrapbooking ''Divas''! Inspiration is everywhere and can be found around each corner - even in my kids' crafts sometimes!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Georgia", "serif";">So today marks a new beginning for me. Being on this Design Team brings immense joy and allows me the opportunity to share stories, scrapbooking layouts, cards, altered art pieces, and ideas with all of you!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Georgia", "serif";">I hope you enjoy and I look forward to hearing from all of you!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Georgia", "serif";">Happy Scrapping!</span><br />
